Parrot developed its Gateway Approach (Module) between the vehicle and the outside world of nomadic devices. This gateway has, on one side, the ability to connect (Interoperability or IOP) to nomadic devices (USB, iPod, MP3 players, mobile phones) and, on the other side, a frozen interface to the infotainment unit that is connected to the vehicle network.

Parrot maintains best-in-class IOP by permanently testing its software against new CE devices. The company develops software updates to enhance compatibility and add new features. These are offered to our customers twice a year.
The update is only applied to the gateway. Thanks to this frozen interface of the module to the infotainment unit, once the infotainment unit is compatible with a selected number of representative devices (pilot phones) usually tested by the carmaker or the Tier1, the infotainment unit is validated for all nomadic devices compatible with the module.
Therefore, the Tier1 does not need to test its unit with all devices in the market.
